FamilySearch Center Operations Guide Appendix E: Europe Specific Guidelines
10: Administration of the Center
Safety and Security
- Centers in the Europe North Area do not have access to communication devices, such as landline telephones or mobile phones. Local Stake or Ward Leaders determine if access to a communication device is required. If deemed necessary, they cover all associated costs.
- In the Europe North Area, the family history manager makes decisions regarding the use of locks, shutters, and other security measures. The area manager is responsible for determining the appropriate methods to ensure the safety and security of all equipment.
11: Computers, Printers, and Software
Computer and Printer Replacement
- The Family History Department replaces authorized computers based on budget availability. The process of updating computers is on a schedule determined by the Family History Department and does not require a request from the centers.
- If you feel the center requires additional computers to fulfill guest needs, Stake Presidents can request additional computers from the Family History Department. To make the request, Stake Presidents must complete a Family History Computer Hardware and Software Order Form and send the form to EU_support@familysearch.org. The Family History Department reviews your request and determines if additional computers are needed. New or replaced computers and printers are usually sent to the stake technology specialist or FamilySearch center coordinator.
- After computers are replaced, the stake technology specialist is to remove data completely before the local facilities manager disposes of an old computer.
- Centers do not accept donations of furnishings, computers, or printers. Likewise, when FamilySearch equipment is ready for replacement, local members or leaders do not donate old furnishings, computers, and printers. Rather, the facilities manager removes and discards the used equipment.
Printer Cartridges
- The Stake is responsible for acquiring toner and paper for all printers at the FamilySearch Center.
